What do you do at Home Property Lawyers?

I’m a Conveyancing Executive, dealing with Freehold and Leasehold sales and purchases.

What’s your career background?

I left Henley College  in 1993 with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.

After temping for a while, I worked for a firm of Loss Adjusters for several years, becoming PA to the Agribusiness Manager for the East Midlands area.

Following redundancy I temped for various agencies in Lincoln whilst working towards my Pitman Legal Secretary Diploma and Microsoft Office User Diploma, gaining distinctions in both.  Having temped for various Law firms, I was encouraged to apply for a post at Langleys Solicitors.  I’m still here 18 years later!

Why conveyancing?

Whilst the process is similar for every file , each  transaction is different.  You are learning all the time.

What do you love about working at Home Property Lawyers?

The opportunity to progress.  I’ve had a variety of roles within the department, from opening files  in the New Business team to running a case load as a Case Handler.  I’m now starting to do more of my own technical work, with the support of the managers and the technical advisors.

There is also a real team atmosphere, with everyone willing to help everyone else.

I’m fortunate that most of my clients and agents are local, which helps to build the relationship

What makes your house a home?

Aside from my family and  my cats it has to be my books – the bane of my husband’s life!  My Dad taught me to read when I was three years old and I always have to have a book with me, even if I know I’m not going to get chance to read it.  I love discovering a new author, then collecting all of their books.  Its’ good for the local economy –  I keep the bookshops in business, my husband keeps the DIY stores going as he is constantly having to build new bookshelves.
