What do you do at Home Property Lawyers?
I am a Technical Adviser. I usually work “behind the scenes”, checking property titles, including Freehold, Leasehold, Shared Ownership and Right to Buy. I also Supervise Conveyancing Executives in relation to more complex and unusual transactions and I advise our clients in respect of their co-ownership options and Declarations of Trust.
What’s your career background?
I began my conveyancing career in 1995, working for an international, corporate firm of Solicitors, dealing with plot sales for a national house builder. In 2002 I began working for a local firm of Solicitors, acting for individuals, buying and selling property. I joined Langleys Solicitors in 2007 and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.
I started out as a Secretary to a Solicitor. I had not envisaged, in those early days, that I could develop a lasting career in law for myself in anything other than a supporting role and when the opportunity arose for me to become a Conveyancing Executive, to deal with conveyancing matters independently, I was absolutely thrilled. At Home Property Lawyers, my role as Technical Adviser is incredibly satisfying, being a happy medium between advising clients, guiding colleagues and transaction progression.
What do you love about working at Home Property Lawyers?
From my very first day I was impressed with the progressive and inclusive attitude demonstrated at all levels. The structure is such that all staff are incredibly well supported both within their own teams and across the division as a whole. Colleagues quickly become friends and even feel like family.
What makes your house a home?
Gathering family and friends together and making wonderful memories.
