What do you do at Home Property Lawyers?
I’m a Conveyancing Executive, dealing with Freehold and Leasehold sales and purchases.
What’s your career background?
I left Henley College in 1993 with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
After temping for a while, I worked for a firm of Loss Adjusters for several years, becoming PA to the Agribusiness Manager for the East Midlands area.
Following redundancy I temped for various agencies in Lincoln whilst working towards my Pitman Legal Secretary Diploma and Microsoft Office User Diploma, gaining distinctions in both. Having temped for various Law firms, I was encouraged to apply for a post at Langleys Solicitors. I’m still here 18 years later!
Whilst the process is similar for every file , each transaction is different. You are learning all the time.
What do you love about working at Home Property Lawyers?
The opportunity to progress. I’ve had a variety of roles within the department, from opening files in the New Business team to running a case load as a Case Handler. I’m now starting to do more of my own technical work, with the support of the managers and the technical advisors.
There is also a real team atmosphere, with everyone willing to help everyone else.
I’m fortunate that most of my clients and agents are local, which helps to build the relationship
What makes your house a home?
Aside from my family and my cats it has to be my books – the bane of my husband’s life! My Dad taught me to read when I was three years old and I always have to have a book with me, even if I know I’m not going to get chance to read it. I love discovering a new author, then collecting all of their books. Its’ good for the local economy - I keep the bookshops in business, my husband keeps the DIY stores going as he is constantly having to build new bookshelves.
I dealt with Helen all through the process of selling my property and buyer my new home. Helen put me at ease from the start, as I had just lost my husband. I was quite frightened about the process . Helen and her colleagues were friendly and very competent.
Helens understanding and knowledge helped us through a difficult time with selling.
Helen was the driving force in our sale/purchase chain and achieved completion within 8 weeks of instruction on a complex sale and purchase with management company involved – we very much appreciated her hard work.
We cannot thank or praise Helen enough. She was always patient with our queries, kept us updated and pushed our sale/purchase through very quickly. Thank you.
For what ever reason I phoned Helen was always so pleasant and helpful when talking to me.
Excellent advice throughout, particularly when faced with potential problems with central heating boiler just prior to contract exchange. Helen was always available on the phone, unlike when I have dealt with Solicitors previously – Very welcome.
Our chain took quite a long time, however we always found Helen and Sally and Laura very approachable / informative and considerate. Thank you so much for all you did on getting us our dream house. Very grateful clients.
